This draft statement is understood as a “living document” subject to further debate and change in the coming months. We at IFPRI note that this statement does not imply any endorsement by the conference participants or the cosponsors. Rather the statement is a synthesis of our own preliminary conclusions to stimulate international debate on the way forward and action. We welcome comments and feedback on this draft via the comment form below. The Challenge The linkages between agriculture, nutrition, and health seem obvious: adequate levels and qualities of food produced and consumed promote good nutrition and robust health. The reality, however, is that patterns of food production and consumption vary widely around the world and the positive linkages between agriculture, nutrition, and health are not realized.   • When is the conference?
    February 10 – 12, 2011.
  • Do I need to register for the conference ahead of time?
    Pre-registration is mandatory for security purposes, especially to be admitted into the inaugural session. Registration has now closed.
  • When does registration close?
    Registration is now closed. Onsite registration will not be available.
  • Can I bring a camera/phone/bag to the inaugural session on February 10?
    No. The following items cannot be brought into the inaugural session: handbags, briefcases, phones, pagers, cameras, transistors, digital diaries, arms, ammunition, and/or binoculars. Kindly leave these in your hotel room. Please only bring the invitation card and envelope that you will receive.
  • What do I do in an emergency?
    In the case of a life-threatening emergency, the emergency numbers in India are 100 for police, and 101 for a medical or fire emergency.
  • What will the weather be like in February?
    The average temperature for February is 7C (45F) - 21C (70F). There is generally low humidity and little rain during this time.

  • I am unable to attend the conference in person.  How can I stay involved?
    There are many ways to get involved with the conference's online activities. You can comment on our blog entries on the main conference page or leave comments on the Knowledge Fair page when its full array of videos, powerpoints, and photos is launched in February. You can also comment on Twitter (hashtag #AgNutHealth) or on Facebook.

  • What airport should I fly into?
    Indira Gandhi International Airport (Airport Code: DEL) is the closest airport to the conference venue.
  • Where can I stay?
    All participants are responsible for their own lodging and travel costs while attending the conference, unless otherwise informed by IFPRI. If IFPRI has arranged for your travel, you will receive a personalized logistics note that includes information on airport transfers and shuttles to/from the conference venue. If you are unsure of which hotel you are staying in, please contact Djhoanna Cruz (d.cruz@cgiar.org). For all other participants, below is a list of hotels in the area. Please note that IFPRI does not have any block booking and does not have pre-negotiated rates with any of these hotels.

Knowledge Fair

  • What is the Knowledge Fair?
    The Knowledge Fair is an exciting space devoted to exhibits, interactive displays, a presentation stage, video viewing seating area, social media station, and informal discussion groups. It will serve as a forum for networking, brainstorming, and collaborating across sectors. The Fair will begin at 10:00 am on February 10 and will end at 2:30 pm on February 12. It will be held in the Rani Bagh lawn area of the Taj Palace hotel.
  • How can I participate in the Knowledge Fair?
    • Attend any of our informal discussion groups held in the mornings of February 11 and 12. No advance confirmation or registration is necessary. A more detailed schedule for the discussion groups will be posted online later this month and will also be provided in the final conference program. The topics are as follows:
      1. Innovative metrics and tools
      2. Nutrition- and health-responsive agricultural technologies
      3. Social exclusion in research and practice
      4. Agriculture, nutrition, and health in the African context
      5. Agriculture, nutrition, and health in the Asian context
      6. Maternal and child health
    • Presentations: Presentation time slots have now filled up. Confirmed presenters will receive further instructions on their presentation, including scheduled time, later on this month.
